It’s that time. Time to get seriously crabby on the river.
Nothing fishy about it. It’s a rite a passage in Fair Haven. It has been since the dawn of time in the borough and surrounding area. Kids, even entire families, buckets and nets in hand, get down to the Navesink River and start netting the crabbiest of crabs.
Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement activity is on its status quo construction hours schedule, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., through Sunday, May 18, weather permitting, with no bridge openings for a period of time. RFH has a new superintendent. He’s reported to the office and has walked those hallowed halls of good ol’ RFH.
And with thoughts of welcoming the new, the old and that teacher-administrator rapport comes to mind. Back in the day, or the ’70s at least, there were those administrators who weren’t just a Charlie Brown teacher’s voice cawing over the ol’ daydreaming student’s non-thought process. Some, or one in particular, are remembered as a real education innovators.
The search is over. A new superintendent has been called to the office at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH).
It’s official. They’ve signed. They’re committed.
Seventeen Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) student-athletes made their college choices official on Wednesday, May 7, by signing Letters of Intent, pledging to continue their athletic and academic careers in colleges.

It all adds up. Good teachers plus intriguing personalities equals motivated, successful students. And, no matter how you put the equation together at RFH, there was no zero involved when it came to high school math teachers.
An area icon turns 90 today. That’s 32,874 days. It’s 47,338,560 minutes (and counting). That’s a lot of time on this planet. And it’s been time spent with family — family at home and in the community. Call it a youth elixir. Family time.
It’s elementary — teacher appreciation. And there’s an art to elementary teaching — or teaching art to elementary school kids.
Calling all potential police dispatchers. That’s a 10-4 in Rumson. And a couple of officers schooled some vocational school students on the need and the criteria today.
