In Memoriam: Fair Haven-Raised RFH Grad, Bill Dawso McNiskin, 76

Fair Haven-raised Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate, Bill Dawson McNiskin, more recently of Jerome, Idaho, passed away peacefully with family members by his side on July 18. He was 76.

Born on Dec. 26, 1949 in Red Bank, Bill was raised by the late William and Jean McNiskin.

After graduating from RFH, he earned his AA from Brookdale Community College and also attended the College of Southern Idaho and Rutgers University.

“He worked various jobs throughout his life, but his one true love was his stained-glass art which he created and mostly gifted to family and friends.

“Bill was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. His love affair with the mountains of Idaho started after he visited shortly after graduating from high school. Living at various times in Ketchum (Sun Valley), Stanley, and finally, in the Jerome/Twin Falls area.

“He was a gentle and kind soul who loved the outdoors, hiking, and camping in his younger days and finally as he grew older walks to catch the ever-brilliant Idaho sunsets. He will be missed greatly by those who knew him, including those in his second family at the Comfort Inn, Jerome, who looked out for him throughout his illness.”

He is survived by: his sisters, Martha (Evan) Goodman, of Neptune, Maura (Rich) Pettigrew, of Red Bank; his brother, Jerry (Gina) McNiskin of Venice, FL.; seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Erin, Carrie, Matthew, Brian, Michael, and Mark; and many grandnieces and nephews.

Visitation for Bill will be on Sunday Aug. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home. A graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown will commence at 11 a.m. on Monday Aug. 3. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke’s Home Care and Hospice, 601 Pole Line Road, Ste 2, Twin Falls, ID 83301. This organization was there to meet every need during Bill’s final weeks.
