It’s all about the smallest seed of the biggest environmental conservation plan getting that bloom that spreads down the coastline.

And American Littoral Society Executive Director Tim Dillingham was recently recognized with a high honor for planting that seed. Dillingham was honored by the Garden Club of America via the Rumson Garden Club for a Zone Civic Improvement Commendation. The award recognized “great enthusiasm for his dedication to preservation of our treasured coastline and habitat of Monmouth County,” the Littoral Society said in a released statement
“The Rumson Garden Club is a wonderful partner of the American Littoral Society, as well as a leading innovator around the use of plants in environmental conservation,” said Dillingham. “This recognition means a lot.”
The Littoral Society has long been headquartered on Sandy Hook, with Dillingham, nearly equally as long, as its director. The environmental organization has also had “a strong and active partnership with the Rumson Garden Club.”
Together, the two groups have collaborated on environmentally vital projects, such as the creation of rain gardens, including training “rain garden ambassadors” in Rumson and surrounding communities, and dune restoration programming on Sandy Hook.
