It’s Fair Haven’s 113th birthday. And, while the birthday is not a milestone, the borough is being celebrated on, or around, every birthday since its 100th. The birthday bash, also marking the start of summer, billed as a community togetherness day, is called Fair Haven Day. And it’s tomorrow — Saturday.

How’d this party get started. Well, it all started with the 100th, or centennial, celebration of Fair Haven in 2012. There was a grand celebration, full of festivities, like a parade, and culminating in a big outdoor picnic of sorts on Fair Haven Fields.
The celebratory day went over so well with residents that they asked for more annual borough birthday parties. And they got them in what became Fair Haven Day. A Foundation of Fair Haven, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, was formed to fund this day and other borough-inspired events. The president of the organization was and still is former borough council president Susan Sorensen.
Fair Haven Day became an annual event. So did Oktoberfest. And there were a couple of fundraisers for the main event, Fair Haven Day, that were tried once — Tiki Fair Haven and a Haven Ho Down.
With the exception of a bit of a break in pandemic times and after, full-on Fair Haven Day has been back for a few years, since 2023. And this year is no exception. Organizers are already planning for next year.
“We are already looking forward to creating something truly special for our nation’s 250th anniversary to add to Fair Haven Day 2026. We plan to bring back some old-school fun and make it a celebration to remember —
Foundation of Fair Haven President Susan Sorensen
stay tuned!“

As for this year’s Fair Haven Day, the party starts on Fair Haven Fields at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The bands, Living Proof and Nine Deez Nite, start playing and food is served starting at 5 p.m.. What kinds of food? Well, Brennan’s Deli and Angry Archie’s Seafood will be back. A new addition this year for dessert is Mister Softee.
As usual, there will be games for the kids and adult beverages for the adults.
The night of celebration ends with fireworks that the committee members say, “you don’t want to miss! Bring your friends. Bring the family — See you at the party of the year!”
Fair Haven Day comes to you, courtesy of many volunteers. “I am so lucky to have the BEST committee of volunteers on the planet that help make this day so special,” Sorensen concluded.
