UPDATE: The Identity of the victim in the Brielle fatal accident early Tuesday morning has been identified as Alejandro Garciamerino, 26, of Point Pleasant Beach.
An unidentified male died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle on Tuesday morning in Brielle, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Thursday.
The Borough Administrator Theresa Casagrande circulated the following as an informational alert to residents:
“Residents in the targeted project area have already been notified. A sign board has also been placed on Third Street notifying all residents who travel along that route and project drawings are available on the borough’s website.
Residents are advised that a police officer will be onsite at all times during the Third Street project. Most importantly, there will be an ongoing police presence to assure that all children have safe passage on their route to school.
Please try to avoid driving in the area if possible and be advised that vehicular traffic may be redirected …”
With the advent of class picture time in the Rumson-Fair Haven area schools, memories come to mind of favorite teachers striking that pose with students through the years.
That’s no dummy? Well, yeah, it is. You may have seen this guy, girl or, more accurately, gender neutral dummy around the towns. It’s the Fair Haven First Aid CPR dummy — or, more politely and aptly, mannequin.
Coastal Decor and Design has made Fair Haven its home for 10 years. And to commemorate the occasion, all were invited to celebrate with a little music from John Amabile, some snacks and socializing, Mia Pustrom photography, store goodies and more.
Former Fair Havenite and longtime Rumson School District teacher Eileen Sagurton Borden passed away, surrounded by family at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, on Thursday, Sept. 20. She was 71.
Monmouth University has named Randall S. Abate its inaugural Rechnitz Family Urban Coast Institute Endowed Chair in Marine and Environmental Law and Policy.
In this new position, Abate will conduct research and teach courses on environmental, climate change, marine and coastal, animal, and constitutional law and policy.

Rumor, or a National Weather Service report, has it that the sun will come out tomorrow. And we’re not talking about the old musical Annie. It’s locals’ summer weather wish come true from a good source and the telltale sign of rainbows sightings at dusk.
