Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Travel & Construction Advisory

In light of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Bridge replacement activity schedule has been altered. Work will continue during the usual 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. hours on different days this week, weather permitting:

  • Saturday, June 28
  • Monday, June 30 through Thursday, July 3
  • Monday, July 7

Specific construction activities planned for the week are listed below the travel advisory information.

Waterway Information

Normal bridge operations are expected this week.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel. USCG may grant permission for partial closures of the channel and/or for temporary deviation from normal drawbridge operations. Monmouth County must comply with instructions from USCG.

Roadway and Sidewalk Information

  • Potential traffic pattern changes and possible travel delays may occur on both sides of the bridge.
  • All roadway and sidewalk travelers should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
  • The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.

  • Install railing — fender access platform

Sea Bright

  • Machinery base grouting — east
  • Controls work to bring leaf online
  • Grounding and bonding of trunnion
  • Commissioning and testing with WSP
  • Operator training
  • Fix/repair — span position indicator shaft
  • Install roller shead pockets
  • Install drop ceiling
  • Install bathroom toilet and sink
  • Install marine radio
  • Install air horn
  • Install exterior lights
  • Install Lights — street level
  • Install kitchenette, cabinet and microwave
  • Install kitchenette water heater
  • Install bathroom water heater
  • Install work desk, chair and locker
  • Install anti-climb mesh
  • Install permanent railing — east approach
  • Repair cracks in approach span deck
  • Install tide clearance gauge sign
  • Install tide clearance gauge lights (south fender)
