New Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Travel Advisory

The Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge is open and fully functional, but work continues.

The contractor is scheduled to continue construction phase work on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Construction vehicles will continue to enter and exit the work areas on Rumson Road in Rumson and on Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.

Retro Rumson Firemen’s Fair Moment

Reprise in honor of Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair week and what used to be called Firemen’s Night, now Emergency Responders’ Night, which was last night …

Well, the fair is on and nothing has stopped it yet.

A tradition within the fair tradition is Firemen’s Night. Fire departments from across the state flock to the fair, most with reps riding into town on their towns’ fire trucks. It happens annually on Wednesday night of the Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair.

So, the Retro Pic of the Day offers a glimpse into Firemen’s Night 10 years ago, in 2015, with a photo of guys and gals from the neighboring Rumson Fire Department.

Rumson Police: Hurricane Erin Weather Alert; Flood Area Parking Plan

From Rumson police …

A coastal flood warning has been issued for our area due to the impacts of Hurricane Erin and the upcoming new moon cycle. Significant coastal hazards are expected beginning today, Aug. 20, through Friday, Aug. 22, with conditions peaking on Thursday, Aug. 21, as the storm passes offshore.

Over the next 48 hours, please prepare for:

• High sustained winds and stronger gusts

Tidal flooding in low-lying areas

• Rising water levels that may impact travel and property

Please prepare accordingly and take appropriate safety measures. Do not drive through flood waters. The water may be deeper than it appears and can be extremely dangerous.

For residents of the West Park Section of Rumson, parking will be permitted in a diagonal fashion along Old Rumson Road to help safeguard vehicles. Stay alert and follow all official updates from Rumson PD and Local Officials.
