Rumson Rec to Host Family Fun Nights

Rumson Recreation has announced that new Family Fun Nights are to be hosted at Victory Park.

The nights, on Sept. 2 and 9 from 6 to roughly 7:30 p.m. will feature concerts by The Band of the Two Rivers and DJ MO Talent, respectively.

Rumson Rec asks that attendees bring their own chairs, blankets and snacks for the festivities. With Band of the Two Rivers there will be music, socializing and the river view.

With DJ MO, there will be some “family fun music” and contests.

The Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair opens tonight after a rare one-end-of-summer hiatus due to COVID-19. And with the fair known as the largest in the state has always come a lot of tradition.

In Memoriam: Fair Havenite Bob Carr, 64

A Fair Haven neighborhood, family and friends are in mourning for a “larger than life” neighbor known as a community pied piper, inspiring neighborhood unity, fun and kindness to all whose lives he touched.

The neighbor, friend, father and husband, Robert “Bob” Carr passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14. He was 64.

When Fair Haven’s iconic Umberto’s pizzeria closed, Anthony Fabbri, son of pizza icon Silvio, said his dad would have said, “OK. It’s time to go home.” Home, as he knew it, was where the heart was and his and his family’s heart was and has always been with their passion — pizza.

And now, just more than a year after the doors to the brick-and-mortar Umberto’s, Anthony, like his pop advised, has brought his passion back home again — right to his pizza-flipping heart.
