A must of a reprise from 2020 in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week …
There’s nothing like some fine elementary school teaching moments … at the beach … with ice cream … and cool teachers sporting cat-eye sunglasses and pedal pushers.
Let the sun shine! The clouds have cleared this week for a good shining. And back in the 1970s at RFH, busting out of the hallowed halls was the thing to do when the fiery orb reared its rays in the sky.
Sing it! Row that boat ashore, Michael, Mary, Karen, Lynn, and whoever else has an oar. And, whatever you do, don’t rain on their parade! You couldn’t if you tried.
This week’s Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement construction activity remains status quo, so far. But, more rain is expected, and with it Monmouth County officials advise possible changes to the usual activity.
If there was ever a perfect night for a classic pre-teen sleepover, tonight might just be the night. It’s all about drizzly dampness made toasty with a little help from friends.

Get out! That’s what most school kids are likely wishing to do these dank spring days. And get out with the “in” crowd was always the cool thing to do before school back in the 1970s in Fair Haven.
Picture that. A picture is worth a thousand awkwardly cool moments in the memory of a middle school kid.
To a Fair Haven eighth grader of the 1970s, there was nothing cooler than being asked to hang out, before the bell rang, on the side of Knollwood School by the bushes with the clique of the coolest kids.
The weekend’s drenching, flooding rainfall has stopped; and, the halt was just in time to keep Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement activity status quo.
Monmouth County officials have announced that construction work for Monday through Friday will continue at the latest usual hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the slightest of changes in the travel advisory.
Here’s what’s happening this week …
Construction and delivery vehicles will continue to traverse the area. This means …
Temporary delays are possible on any contractor work day as construction and delivery vehicles enter and exit the work areas.
The eastbound sidewalk on the bridge is closed. This means …
The sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed until further notice.
Sidewalk users should cross at the pedestrian striping at the new island at Old Rumson Road to access the north side (westbound) walkway.
Construction activity is continuing in the Shrewsbury River. This means …

Another Saturday night and he’s got his buddies. And some sunshine. That’s how the RFH ball, or prom, or just plain dressed-up night or day out rolled back in the 1970s.

This is a classic that’s been seen before, but warrants another look, considering the timing …
The RFH junior prom has happened — again. And the prom is all about dressing up, coupling up and dancing. Well, that’s most of what it’s all about, anyway.
