Let the sun shine! Bring it back! There have been some sun shiny spring days lately; but, today is an exception. The sun will return by Friday, though, because spring has really sprung. And back in the 1970s at RFH, busting out of the hallowed halls was the thing to do when the fiery orb reared its rays in the sky.
You could say that sunshine lit a fire under an already feverish fall fever feeling among RFH students. So, they’d take it to the stoop. Hey, it was right outside the front door, so they didn’t have to travel far on a free period.
And that was just fine for students. Hanging outside on sunny days was what RFH students did best when they had those free periods that are now obsolete. They were free for a few minutes and soaking up some of the sunshine among RFH friends was a simple pleasure granted. It’s that simple. In those days, outdoor studying was actually involved. See those books on the steps?
Of course, there were those who wandered to The Campus Luncheonette without the thought of a book. But the more nerdy of the RFH crews stuck closer to the home base. Some managed to never even set foot in the place.
It’s pretty simple. Sun up, RFH students out … side. Is there any stoop hanging at RFH these days? And, other than catching a few rays, what was this group up to? SGA? Sports? Hmmmmm … stoop dwellers. That could have been an actual thing in the ’70s. Now?
