Sometimes ya just have to go clubbing … in Sea Bright … before the age of 10.
After all, what good Rumson kid didn’t? Not many, if any. And back in the summer of ’69, little Claire Hurd was one who went clubbing … to Sea Bright Beach Club, of course, with the best of them. It was just the way Rumsonites rolled in the summer. Still do.
Longtime Rumsonite, John Archibald, of Little Silver, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 22, 2023. He was 91. A service is set for Wednesday, Aug. 14, in Michigan, where he was born.
Former longtime Rumsonite, Donald Joseph Devine, more recently of Little Silver, passed peacefully on Sept. 19. He was 89, “at home, surrounded by loved ones, especially the love of his life, Denise Broderick Devine, his bride of nearly 60 years.”
Former longtime Fair Havenite, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate and U.S. Navy vet, Harvey Stewart, more recently of Long Branch, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29. He was 80.
Former longtime Rumson resident and Fair Haven business owner Harral Redden passed away on Dec. 7 after a brief illness with leukemia. He was 84.
The longtime resident of Little Silver as well, was a graduate of Red Bank High School and Ursinus College, where he was a wrestler. Hal was also an insurance broker who owned the Redden Agency-Insurance in Fair Haven for more than 50 years.
Hal was predeceased by his parents Harral and Evelyn Schultz Redden.
He is survived by: his wife of 37 years, Bernadine “Sissie” Redden; brother, Barry (Deborah) Redden; nephew, Alex, and niece, Julianna Redden; sons, Stephen and Scott Redden; stepdaughters, Victoria (Leo) Cullen, Pamela Vallas, Christa (Richard) Lippert; grandchildren, Conrad, Justin and Hanna Lippert, Anais and Kai Cullen.
Due to COVID, a celebration of Hal’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lunch Break/Food Bank Red Bank www.lunchbreak.org.
