In Memoriam: Fair Haven-Raised RFH ’85 Grad, Ellen Golembeski Davis, 59

Fair Haven-raised Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH)_ graduate, Ellen Golembeski Davis, more recently of the Belford section of Middletown, passed away peacefully on June 23, surrounded by her family. She was 59.

Ellen was born on Jan. 2, 1967, in Plainfield, to John Golembeski and Rosalie Costello.

After graduating from RFH, she attended art school for a year before becoming a student at the Ann May School of Nursing, graduating in 1989. She later received several degrees in nursing, culminating in a Doctorate o Nursing Practice in 2011 from UMDNJ.

Ellen had an extensive career as a nurse and nurse practitioner: first in pediatrics at Riverview Medical Center; then in pediatrics, pedi ICU and trauma ICU at Jersey Shore University Medical Center; as an intensivist/ICU nurse practitioner at NY Medical Center and Columbia University; in comprehensive medical services for Morgan Stanley; and as a palliative care nurse practitioner at Bayshore Medical Center.

Ellen had three sons-Cole, Cooper, and Mitchell. She was married to Robert Mulry in 2006 at Coki Point Beach in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and was gifted three stepchildren-Sara, Sean, and Robert. She was later given the opportunity to care for many of her “chosen” children, or godchildren.

“She never ceased to run out of motherly love and care, enriching her family and friends with encouragement, advice, and unwavering support. Ellen took many trips together with Rob, sometimes tagging along on his work trips if an interesting location was involved. These included Crested Butte, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, California, San Pedro, Belize, and St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

“Ellen (also) loved music, having seen many concerts together with Rob. Of note were Santanna, Kenny Chesney, Zach Brown Band, Tom Jones, Luther Vandross, Big and Rich, Los Lonely Boys, Tower of Power, Luke Bryan, and Bruce Springsteen. Ellen had always supported her children’s love for music as well, driving the boys and their friends to a number of shows in NYC and locally in New Jersey. She would often sit in the back of the room at a metal concert, reading a book or working on school work.

“Ellen had immense love for animals. She adopted their dogs Layla and Little Bella, from Bosnia and San Pedro, Belize, respectively, then took in Cole’s dog, Tango, from Guam. She also adopted a German shepherd, Bella, from one of her chosen children, Joe, cared for her, and gave her the best last few years of her life.”

Ellen is predeceased by: her father, John; her mother, Rosalie; and her sister, Karen.

She is survived by: her husband, Robert; her brother, John; John’s wife, Melody; her children, Cole, Cooper, and Mitchell, Cole and Cooper’s wives, Brooke and Yasmin, respectively; her stepchildren, Sara, Sean, and Robert, her chosen children, Joe, Sadie, Ty, and Bridget; her friends, Kris and Tammy; and the countless others with whom she shared her joy.

Services were held over the weekend.
