Longtime Fair Havenite Thomas Cusick passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center on Jan. 31, “leaving behind an incredible legacy.” He was 99.
“It is with a heavy heart filled with amazing memories, we (family) share the sudden, but peaceful, passing of Elizabeth Ann Gill this past Friday evening at her residence in Tinton Falls.”
The following is a reprise of our Old News column, originally posted on Jan. 30, 2024, about the Fair Haven Fire Department’s Spaghetti Dinner, because tonight’s the night for the longtime annual tradition. Mangia!
People have been filling their gullets with a heaping helping of spaghetti and meatballs at the Fair Haven Fire Department’s annual spaghettini dinner for several decades. And tonight will be no exception.
Call him smokin’ cold Frosty. He’s that apparently armless blob of snow day snow at the hands of four Fair Haven miscreants of the 1960s.
Longtime Fair Havenite, Joseph “Joe” Michael Rafferty died peacefully at home on Jan. 7. He was 90.
Well, after a lot of warnings and prep, the week’s ones played host to the snowstorm that wasn’t. Oh, there was some snow and freeze, but it was no Blizzard of ’96 or ’78. Yes, back in the day, there were plenty of snowstorms that actually snowed Rumson-Fair Haven area folks in and left them to their own devices for resorting to fun in the freezing white stuff.
There’s a new chief in town. Well, there’s a new chief, deputy chief, assistant chiefs, lieutenants, captains, president and vice president in the Fair Haven Fire Department’s fire company, first aid squad, auxiliary and water rescue.
New Year cheers to good friends!
These RFH guys … If there’s something to celebrate, they’re commandeering the toast — and peppering it with a little mayhem. Or a lot.
Longtime Fair Havenite, Wade A. Davis, passed away on Dec. 29 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 83.
Former Fair Havenite, Elizabeth “Liz” McNally died peacefully in Red Bank on Dec. 10. She was 63.
