An Ocean Township woman has been charged with murder stemming from the April death of a West Long Branch resident , Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Wednesday.
Rena Cain, 53, has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and third-degree hindering in connection with the fatal hit-and-run of the West Long Branch man.

On Tuesday, April 28, at approximately 10 p.m., West Long Branch police responded to 123 Wall Street on reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers found a male victim, later determined to be a resident of that address, unresponsive on the front lawn. The victim, identified as Adriano Catano, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau, the West Long Branch Police Department and assistance by members of the Eatontown and Long Branch police departments, revealed that the Catano, the male resident, was struck by Cain’s vehicle before she fled the scene.
