Call it a boatload of waterborne sunshine.
On the cusp of the unofficial start of summer, thoughts turn to sunny cruising on the Navesink River.
The sunny part covers both weather and spirit, as nothing is as good for the Rumson-Fair Haven area kid’s soul as a little river time. And that river time is a rite of passage, whether it’s spent boating, fishing, crabbing, paddle boarding, wind surfing or just plain sand-between-the-toes wandering and daydreaming.
But what’s to dream about when the dream is before or beneath you, cradling that spirit.
Quality river time and sunny daze in mind, this Retro Pic of the Day lets us drift back to the 1960s when river time was what it still is — cruising for some soul soothing.
This photo is of a Fair Haven mom and daughter duo — little Veronica White and her mom. The picture is worth probably about a million Rumson-Fair Haven area kids’ words. The smile says it all.
So, smile, the season for the voyage to the center of river joy is upon us. Anchors aweigh!
