In Memoriam: Fair Haven-Raised RFH ’72 Grad, Former Policeman, Fireman, Mike Raleigh, 72

Fair Haven-raised Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate and former borough policeman and fireman, Mike Raleigh, passed away after a battle with cancer on May 11 in Stuart, FL, where he had been more recently living. He was 72.

Born on Feb. 1, 1954 to Maurice and Blanche Raleigh, who predeceased him, Mike grew up in Fair Haven, graduating from RFH in 1972. At RFH, he was a baseball player; and, outside of high school, Mike was known as a “stand-out softball player” for the Fair Haven Fire Department’s team.

“Mike proudly served as a police officer in Fair Haven, retiring at the rank of captain 25 years ago. He was also a volunteer firefighter with the Fair Haven Fire Department. Throughout the years he had many hobbies, including racing stock cars, hunting, fishing, golf, horseback riding, and playing guitar.”

Mike is survived by: his siblings, Nancy LeBaron, John Raleigh, Patrick Raleigh, and Pam Mass; his five children, Victoria, Thomas, Christine, James, and Alex Raleigh and Alex’s wife Sarah; and many nephews and nieces.

“Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped during his battle with cancer. He deeply appreciated it.”

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
