Isn’t football the tackle sport? Well, that may be, but by the looks of things in this 1970s home run classic in the outfield, these RFH baseball players paid no mind to standard sports protocol. It was really all about the fun and laughs for them.

Retro RFH Rainy Day Lunching

Well, rainy days like today and hangin’ in the Senior Commons at RFH were just about as cool as The Carpenters’ hit song in the 1970s. It didn’t have to be on Monday, though. And nothing got RFHers down when it came to Halloween fun and lounging. The fun just stayed inside and all RFH cozy-like.

Let’s face it. It’s not every day that you get the chance to grab a bite of good ol’ RFH cafeteria grub — or a little scary costumed sustenance, let’s say.

It’s also not every day that you get the chance to “cop a squat” in the RFH senior lounge to ingest the spirit, or spirits, of the day in the company of Harpo and Groucho Marx.

Did someone say backgammon? Originally posted on Dec. 3, 2019, we’re bringing this RFH Senior Commons Retro Pic of the (George) Day back, because that conversation pit pic got those ’70s RFHers talking about the oh, so trendiness of backgammon and games in the pits and on the tabletops of that Senior Commons. We’re not so sure these guys were actually playing, but … the foul weather brings out those RFH Senior Commons memories and everything gets a bit more fair-weathered again. Go back again with us …

Snow day, anyone? Nope. Not this year. Dank days certainly are a bit too plentiful, though. Really, what’s an RFH student to do when the studying mood hasn’t struck, the weather stinks and a little peppering of now is not quite snow day worthy? Hang out in the Senior Lounge and play backgammon, of course. Or something like that. We stress “something like that.”

Play ball! Well, spring has arrived and RFH Baseball season is set to start soon — on April 9 with a home JV game at Meadow Ridge. Time will tell whether or not vaccines will hit COVID-19 out of the park, but the game is on and the RFH players are set for a home run season.
