TGIF and cheers, again, to reunion season … With that toast, remember that there’s always a first. And when it comes to firsts, there’s nothing quite like that first RFH reunion.

Yes, it’s reunion season. So, we’re taking you back again to a hoot of a 25th for that RFH Class of ’78 at an iconic spot in its original little-shack- on-the-beach form — Donovan’s Reef.
Before Sandy, a “DO” at Donovan’s meant something entirely different for RFHers reuniting. Rather than a symbol of “We can do it. We can rebuild.” it was more like a simple “Let’s do the Donovan’s thing!”
Well, it’s a summer of revived RFH reunions and RFHers love a good reunion and embrace them by reuniting however and whenever they can.
As far as getting the word out, though, things have changed quite a bit since those first 10-year reunions for the classes of the 60s, 70s and even 80s and 90s and before. But, there’s one iconic mode of invite that has been missing for quite some time. The painting of the bridge!
There was a time when communication was limited to phone books, landline phones, snail mail and word of mouth. Of course, there were paper invites. But, there was nothing better than getting the word out by just reverting to old school days and painting that bridge.
There’s nothing like chillin’ among best RFH friends on a hot summer night. And there’s nothing like those friends doing the same thing nearly 50 years later.
Well, the post-pandemic Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) reunions have been revived — with gusto.
There was a 39th recently. And the RFH Class of ’77 just celebrated its 45th. And by the looks of things, it was a festive night on July 30 at Salt Creek Grille for the main event. Of course, in the surrounding nights, there were some visits to other local RFHers’ haunts, like Barnacle Bill’s, for tradition’s sake.
Organizer Ed Apy sent some snapshots of many stellar moments.
Take a look at the photo gallery below (CLICK on one photo to enlarge and scroll!) for a glimpse into the night of reuniting …

Summertime is reunion time for all good Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School alumnus. In fact, the RFH Class of ’83 just had a very untraditional 39th. Hey, when the reunion spirit moves an RFHer, any year is the right one.

They didn’t wait for that banner even numbered 40th reunion. They just couldn’t wait.
No, The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Class of ’83 went ahead and had a pretty untraditional, unprecedented (at least in formal reunion style) 39th reunion over the weekend.

Let’s hear it for the girls! It’s only fair that some RFH girls who knew how to raise a bottle with the best of them get equal first reunion remembrance time.
