It’s unseasonably warm. The Navesink River is drenched in sun. And the seagulls are soaking what may just be the last summery fall day all up.

Jetty rocks are piled. Sand is raked and plowed into a vertical dune-like stretch down the beach. Trucks are digging, pulling and plowing sand. The relatively new boardwalk that earmarked a piece of a beginning after Superstorm Sandy’s wrath is demolished. The Where Angels Play playground has been dismantled. It’s what Sea Bright Public Beach and north and south of it look like on any given day lately. Sea Bright beach rebirth has begun.

Focus: Gone Fishing in Fall
It’s not a typical time of the year for fishing off the end of the Fair Haven Dock. Yet, Wednesday wasn’t a typical fall day, either.
Call it nature’s little overpour of summer. And no one was in a hurry to clean up the spill into the cooler season. The sun was bright, the leaves were turning and falling, and the Navesink River was beckoning the warmth and reflection of the sun and the solace of some lone fishing.

There’s nothing quite like a sun-kissed morning down by the river between a child and a loved one, sand between the toes, water lapping, soaking up the serenity, exploring the Navesink.

Focus: A September Fair Haven Oktoberfest
The sun was shining and spirits were o’zapft, or tapped like the beer, at Fair Haven’s Oktoberfest on the summery September day on Saturday.
Focus: Locals’ Summer Scene
It’s locals’ summer and all is serene on the beach in Sea Bright. It’s time to go walkin’ … after sunrise … lounging … exploring … this slice of life at the beach.

Focus: A Locals’ Summer for the Birds
It’s that time of the year when the beaches are pretty barren. It’s locals’ summer. Perfect time for serenity and little waterfront trek.
That’s how it was recently on Sea Bright Public Beach — a stroll in solitude accompanied only by the birds, the sea, freshly combed sand and solace.
Walk along and take in the view. It’s not just for the birds, really. (And don’t forget to click to enlarge!)

Focus: A Fair Haven GOP Council Candidates’ Meet & Greet
Fair Haven Republican Borough Council candidates Susan Sorensen and Betsy Koch cordially invited, as all invites go, Fair Havenites and all other interested parties to a meet-and-greet, getting-to-know-you gathering at The Raven and the Peach Thursday evening.
Sorensen, the incumbent, has served on various committees in her tenure, including starting the non-profit Foundation of Fair Haven, which is designed to offset costs for special events like Fair Haven Day and Oktoberfest.
This is a first run for political office for Koch. A longtime teacher at Knollwood School, she has said that she felt the timing was right for her to pitch in as a seated councilwoman in the hometown borough she loves and as a testament to the legacy of her husband Jerome, who served on council until his premature death a few years ago.

Focus: A Night Out with Fair Haven Cops
It was the community’s night out — with Fair Haven cops. It’s that first Tuesday in August more aptly referred to nationwide as National Night Out.
Focus: It’s Another Fair Haven Dock Sunset
Yes, it’s been done many times … Sunset photos at the Fair Haven Dock.
But no two sunsets are ever the exact same. And no feeling each time you stand there, stroll down the dock or on the beach and take it all in is exactly the same.
From one perspective at least, tonight’s setting was about color, clouds and content chatter among fishermen.
Good night, Fair Haven …
