It’s spring musical time at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH).
A reprise to warm hearts as the sun comes out and spring is on the horizon …
Spring is coming, folks. The weather is warming up. Sort of. People are shedding coats for sweaters and getting out and about a little more each day.
The sun has been peering brightly, albeit with a sting in the air. Call it classic spring fever. Thoughts of sunny, warm, spring-is-almost-in-the-air antics are racing through minds, especially those of high schoolers.
The Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement construction schedule remains status quo this week, with work scheduled from the usual 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., through Friday, weather permitting. Work on the navigational channel under the bridge has ensued, with clearance alerts for waterborne travelers on the Shrewsbury River.
With the first hint of spring in the air today, you could say that these RFH guys caught the spring bug — and soaked it and its sunny vibe right up!
Longtime Shrewsbury resident, Keith DeVita, passed away recently. He was 59.
Just a little Rumson entertainment thing to know: Forrestdale School Drama Club kids are getting set for a curtain up on Seussical Jr., the youngsters’ version of Seussical the Musical.
Of course, the show is all about the works of famed children’s book author, Dr. Seuss. And the cast is dressed, going into final dress rehearsal and ready to open on Thursday night.

“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with! Is that right?” ~ Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz
For the love of home and a Fair Haven mom … that’s right.
Sometimes a birthday without her is about lighting the candles, making the wish, sustaining the simple legacy of going home, staying home with my mom, Sally Van Develde.
Today would have been her 102nd birthday. If she had lived to blow out all those candles on her cake, I wondered what she would have done. What her wish would have been.

In case you didn’t hear or see the hoopla —as in beeping, siren-blaring, light-flashing from a fire company- and police-escorted parade — the RFH Girls Indoor Track & Field team won the 2024-25 NJSIAA Group 2 state championship.

A slam dunk of a reprise to honor the RFH Boys Basketball season … Go Bulldogs!
Yes, it’s basketball season. And there’s some championship kind of playing going on with the RFH Boys Basketball team, as usual.
And while some things never change, including family names still involved in the sport at RFH, there are also many changes — like uniforms and, of course, the audience.
