Our annual St. Patrick’s Day memory reprise, just because … it’s a classic scene that must be revisited …
In the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade’s aftermath, we’re looking back at the luck of the Irish and not-so-Irish at RFH and another parade — the big one. We are remembering a time when the RFH Marching Band, Twirlers and Drill Team not only marched in area St. Patrick’s Day parades, but made it to the big one in New York City. Call it an Irish step dance of sorts — the marching and entertaining sorts.
Rumson-raised longtime Fair Havenite and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate, Pauline Ann Sorrentino Smith, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 25. She was 85.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom,” longtime Rumson resident, real estate agent, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother as well, Ann Doran, on Feb. 21. Just eight days shy of her 96th birthday, Ann was 95.

Raise your plastic cups and party on! It’s time for a little chill and retro toast to the impending weekend of breaking out of all the snow and taking the snap out of the cold snap with the warmth of some RFH guys of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
Mary Gagliardi, “a treasured soul known for her loving nature and friendly demeanor,” passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 88. Her final days were spent in Rumson, where she passed, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
Longtime Rumsonite Diane Merrall Dey, 95, more recently of Atlantic Highlands, “received her angel wings on Saturday evening, Feb. 7. She departed peacefully at home, in the presence of her loving daughter, Merrall, while the Commendation of the Dying was invoked by Father Hank Hilton.”
Longtime Rumsonite and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate, Carol Friscia Butler, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Feb. 12 in Morgantown, WV. She was 78.
