Letters of Intent are signed. It’s official. Four more Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) senior student-athletes have committed to their chosen colleges — athletically and academically.
A reprise, just because Santa times have begun and this is a classic Sea Bright Santa moment of yesteryear between two RFH grad sisters …
Ca Ching! Santa really knew how to “sleigh” kids in the ’60s! As you wait for the jolly big guy in red to hit that rooftop or shimmy down the chimney, know that he has been known to appear in the most unlikely of places, so keep your eyes peeled … in the grocery store. Yes, the grocery store.

A winter version reprise, by popular demandin honor of Toni Pomphrey, who worked there and recently passed away, and Lisa Preston, the RFH Class of ’75 girl at the counter who also passed and just had a birthday … Campus was a “free period” hot spot, as RFH dinosaurs know …
It’s all about being cool these winter days. It was in the 70s for RFHers, too.
Former longtime Rumsonite Antoinette Jean Pomphrey, affectionately known as Toni, more recently of Shrewsbury Township, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, Nov. 6. She was 85.
Longtime Rumsonite, mom, travel agency business owner, adventurer, Mary Theresa “Terri” Hidu passed away, “invited to receive communion at the Lord’s heavenly table,” on Monday, Nov. 10. She was 88, just 12 hours short of her 89th birthday.
The time was Saturday and the prayers came in the form of a mass at Rumson’s Holy Cross Church for iconic Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) coaches/teachers Hal Lorme and Tom Botti and their wives, who had all passed away some time ago.
Monmouth County officials fished for a way to preserve a big chunk of Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge history while supporting the area’s ecosystem and found one.
With the chill in the fall air and thoughts starting to turn to turkey and football, old-school RFHers are thinking homecoming. November used to be the time of year for such a thing. And it’s happening in a couple different ways pre-Thanksgiving this year in Rumson.
