Focus: A 40th RFH Reunion

“Oh, what a night!”

The Four Seasons’ keyboardist Bob Gaudio and future wife Judy Parker may have written the lyrics to the song about the nostalgia of an affair “late December back in ’63,” but the title and chorus are quite fitting for the 40th reunion of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School’s Class of ’78.

Prosecutor: Authorities Seek Help in Finding Alleged Dog Abuser

From the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office …

The Prosecutor’s Office and the Monmouth County SPCA are seeking the public’s help in a potential animal cruelty case.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Monday, a Highlands resident was walking their dog in Veterans Memorial Park on Bay Avenue when the dog was alerted by something on the water side of the rock bulkhead.

As the passerby investigated, a black wire cage with a small dog cowering inside was spotted. The cage was on a small portion of sand between the bulkhead and the water. The tide was coming in and the water had reached the cage.

The good Samaritan, a woman who put her own dog’s collar (with tags) on to rescue the dog, climbed over the wall and rescued the dog from the rising tide in the Shrewsbury River.

The dog was taken to the Highlands Police Department where animal control was called and the Prosecutor’s Office was alerted. When animal control arrived on the scene, the empty cage was almost covered by the rising tide. If not for the heroic rescue act of the good Samaritan, the dog could have drowned.

Due to the tide schedule, it is estimated that that the dog was placed there between 4 and 6 a.m.. The dog is a roughly one year old male gray and white pit bull.

Anyone who has any information on who owns this dog or may have witnessed anything please notify the MCPO Animal Cruelty Hot Line 877-898-7297 or notify the Highlands Police Department at 732-872-1224.

*Update: According to social media posts, the good Samaritan wants to adopt the dog.*

Yes, school’s out for summer.

But, as the season sets in and the fun begins, those who are saying goodbye to elementary and middle school years and getting set for high school are also getting flashbacks of the days when it all started.

That’s why eighth graders in Rumson and Fair Haven alike have traditionally peppered their yearbooks with a few pages’ worth of who’s who as a kid and/or baby photos.

So, the Retro Pic of the Day honors that, taking a look back at a page out of a Forrestdale yearbook circa 1974, and begs the question “Who are those kids?”

Do you know? Take a look.
