Here we go again … revisiting one of those unforgettable trips to Santa that may be all too familiar … Yes, it’s time again for a little remembrance of the time-honored holiday tradition of the not-always-so-smooth Santa visit at the Fair Haven Firehouse, among other festive places.

Retro ‘Ho No’ Santa!
You know the drill. It’s that time of the year when the kids want to visit Santa — or not. It seems that since the dawn of time, when Santa time comes, there’s always at least one squirming, miserable child plopping on Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick’s lap with a cringe bigger than his signature belly accompanied by Fright Night screeches and tears rolling down his or her cheeks.
Everyone knows the scene well. It’s classic. The holiday tradition that goes terribly awry.
Retro RFH Tower Players Techies
The RFH Tower Players’ fall production of The Emperor’s Nightingale was a standing ovation success. A lot was said in the smiles and poses in closing day photos.
Retro RFH Football Champs’ Halftime
Well, RFH has emerged victorious once again. Sunday’s win made them state champions. And while the team is busy playing all the way to champion wins, there’s a lot more in the way of school spirit going on down on the field and/or sidelines, not to mention bleachers.
Retro RFH Football Cheer Lift
Let’s hear that RFH cheer for football! The varsity game between RFH and Somerville may have been moved to Sunday due to adverse field conditions from yesterday’s surprise snow, but RFH spirits always soar.
Retro RFH Girls’ Football Season Fun-Raising
Football season is winding up — or down — at RFH.
But it wasn’t always just about football at game time back in the day — as if that wasn’t enough. As tradition had it, there were always lots of things happening before, during and after games, whether on the field, off the field, around the bend or, well, in the parking lot. Yes, the parking lot.

A Rumson-Fair Haven Veterans Remembrance
Their faces are the faces at the core of a close-knit community.
They were neighbors, dads, and just plain friendly faces around the Rumson-Fair Haven area towns. They were also veterans.
A Retro RFH Pals’ Fall Skate II
Well, the soggy state of the area lately has been drying up and making way for some falling for fall activity — or not falling. In the last Retro Pic of the Day, we offered a glimpse back into RFH skateboarders doing some impressive balancing acts on the boards on an area street. Yes, it was Sycamore.
Turns out it was a weekly (or more) occurrence at the hands and boards of a few RFH pals.
A Spirited Retro RFH Halloween
The spirit of Halloween has officially swooped in on us like a wicked witch on a fired-up broomstick!
So, the Retro Pic of the (George) Day is, well, several pics in a slideshow of none other than the happy tricksters and treaters of RFH’s Class of ’78!
So, here’s to the retro spirit of haunting from a classic RFH gaggle of ghouls!
And, thanks to the fabulous George Day for these spectacular shots!

Retro RFH Haunting
Sometimes it’s not just the spirit of the season. Sometimes we are haunted by good memories. The year was 1977. It was an RFH Halloween.
Seniors of the Class of ’78 were geared up for some ghostly fun. They gathered in the Senior Commons and paraded around, and, yes, out of the confines of the RFH campus.
Retro RFH Football Times & Uniforms
Yes, football season has kicked into high gear at RFH, so let’s take a moment to tackle this handsome team of players of an unknown year as well as the issue of name and uniform style.
Is it all in a name or uniform? Certainly not. It’s all about the game and how it’s played, of course. But, there are some quirks worth taking the ball and running with for a bit. No harm, no fumble. Just fun.
