“With heavy hearts,” the family of Thomas “Tom” Hoey announced his peaceful passing at home on Feb. 27. He was 64.

“Born in Jersey City and raised in Rumson, Tom was a proud graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH), where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the strong work ethic that shaped his life.
Loved ones of Tom Hoey in his obituary
“A skilled carpenter, Thomas worked in the trade his entire career, eventually founding his own business, Waverly Seamless Gutters and Home Improvements. Known for his craftsmanship, honesty, and dedication, Thomas took great pride in his work and the reputation he built in the community.
“When he wasn’t working, Thomas could almost always be found near the beach or out on the water — places that brought him true peace and happiness. He loved boats, spending time by the ocean, and enjoying the simple beauty of life along the Jersey Shore.”

Thomas was predeceased by: his parents, George and Jane Hoey; his brother, Michael Hoey; and his sister, Jackie Hoey.
He is survived by: his sisters, Susan Hoey Kelty and Jennifer Hoey, both of South Carolina; his sister-in-law, Gigi Hoey; and his nieces and nephews, Michael Hoey, Robert Sanborn, Chris Sanborn, Alex Fiore, Ashley Kelty, and Timmy Kelty. Thomas was especially close to his nephew Michael Hoey, as well as to Rob Sanborn, Rob’s wife, Tols, and their children — Annie, Campbell, and Bert — who lovingly knew him as “Uncle Thomas.”
“His love and devotion to his family were evident in every moment spent together, from holidays to everyday visits.”
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Thomas’ life at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank on Wednesday, March 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent directly to Michael and Gigi Hoey.
