Police Report: Theft & Shoplifting
The following recent criminal incidents were reported by Shrewsbury police:
• There was a report of a shoplifting in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Nov. 21. The victim reported that merchandise was stolen.
Patrolman Kyle Ludwig is investigating.
• A shoplifting of $189 worth of merchandise from a store in the area of Broad Street was reported on Nov. 16.
Sgt. Jessica Boyd is investigating.
• There was a report of a theft in the area of Broad Street on Nov. 16. The victim reported that $550 worth of property was stolen.
Patrolman Joseph Barnicle is investigating.
• There was a report of a theft in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Nov. 16. The victim reported that property was stolen.
Patrolman Daniel DeCristofaro is investigating.

The following October criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Fair Haven police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.
Criminal Incidents
• There was a report on Oct. 18 of vandalism at the Fair Haven Community Center Park. Vulgar graffiti was scrolled on the playground. Juvenile officers Michael Volker and William Lagrotteria investigated and found the juvenile responsible.
• There was a report on Oct. 10 of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Newark. Patrolman Eric Patton took the report.
Arrests
• Ernest Calabrese, 46, of Fair Haven, was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) by Patrolman Eric Patton following a motor vehicle accident. Calabrese was also issued associated motor vehicle summonses.
• Symone Dade, 29, of Highlands, was arrested on Oct. 3 and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle by Patrolman Michael Volker.

The following September criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Fair Haven police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.
Criminal Incidents
• An act of vandalism was reported on Sept. 8 after unknown juveniles reportedly shattered the glass door to the Fair Haven Community Center.
Patrolman Eric Patton took the report.
Arrests
• Darrell Livingston, 52, of Red Bank, on Sept. 27 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), refusal to submit to a breathalyzer and other motor vehicle violations by Patrolman William Lagrotteria.
• While on patrol on Sept. 25, Sgt. Steven Schneider found two bicycles parked along a house under construction. While out investigating, he saw juveniles running away from the scene. Sgt. Schneider located several items left by the juveniles, including controlled dangerous substances (CDS/drugs). The juveniles were later identified and reports turned over to the juvenile division.
• Matthew J. Mago, 23, of Middletown, was arrested on Sept. 24 by Cpl. John Koetzner following a motor vehicle accident and charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.
He was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
• Douglas Batting, 76, of Little Silver, was arrested on Sept. 13 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and other motor vehicle violations by Sgt. Jesse Dykstra.
• Anthony J. Valletta, 65, of Middletown, was arrested on Sept. 3 and charged with stealing items from the Wash House Laundromat by Detective Dwayne Reevey.
