Reprise … Just because it’s that time of the year and it’s a classic shot …
Some bunny got dressed for RFH Halloween 1977 — or a few bunnies and other assorted suspicious characters, that is.
The Halloween spirit was in the air, that’s for sure. And this senior gaggle of girls embodied it. From controversial, yet timely and popular, Playboy bunny costumes, to Raggedy Ann, a ghost, a cat, a gypsy and whatever else, they were parading and pleased with their choices.
Then they benched themselves for a little haunting respite and pose. But, surely, knowing this crew, there was some mischievous haunting to come. They weren’t done.
That’s what is happening on the grounds of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) since a tree was planted on Saturday to honor iconic former science and ballroom dance teacher, Drill Team creator and leader, golf and basketball coach, mentor, and advisor George Giffin, known as “Giff.”
There’s nothing like playing dress-up and drive-by for Halloween at RFH.
In the 1970s, students really got ghostly and festive with it all. Costumes were creative. Though, given the era, it was hard to tell if a few were actually costumes or just the outfit of the day. Ah, but, of course these girls were “disguised” as those 60s, not 70s, hippies.
From the Jets in the Community newsletter via Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School …
Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Football Coach Jerry Schulte has been named this week’s recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week.
With the designation comes a monetary award of $1000 to benefit the school’s football program. RFH, because of the award, will also receive an automatic bid to compete in the 2022 New York Jets 11-ON Tournament.
A reprise from an original 2017 post all about The Hunt. It’s that time of the year, and we always need a little bit of retro cheer, so here’s to fond Hunt memories revisited! Happy Hunting in your dreams …
Sporting a sweater vest, a head full of curls and an impish grin, plopped atop a desk and holding court is how many Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) grads remember longtime Social Studies teacher and advisor Geoff Blake.
It’s that image and plenty of lessons learned at his hands that RFHers hold tight in a cache of high school memories as they mourn the popular teacher who passed away at 74 on Oct. 10. He was being laid to rest today.

Lounging in the RFH Senior Lounge on a “free” with Jim Scanlon and Mark Cardwell Photo/George Day
A reprise from Oct. 1, 2015 to give a little cheer on a dank day. A little tricks and treating among RFH loungers. Always an adventure of some sort at RFH …
There was nothing quite like becoming a senior at RFH and being able to hang out in a special lounge just for you and your classmates, especially on a dismal October day.
Nothing was getting anyone down if they were senior lounging in the cozy RFH indoors. Of course, there was always something seniors were up to. Call it mod. Literally.
Those were the days — in the 1970s.
The whole senior scene, in fact, was quite mod, or literally modular.
