In Memoriam: Former Longtime Rumsonite, Trish Sullivan, 80

Former longtime Rumsonite Patricia “Trish” Sullivan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 24. She was 80. 

“She was always known as a friendly and caring woman, with a robust network of dear friendships including close lifelong friends from the local area. Having raised four children in Rumson, Trish was a well-known parent throughout the community establishing strong connections and friendships with her children’s friends and families. A gardening enthusiast, Trish enjoyed spending time working in the garden and being an active member of the Fair Haven Garden Club for many years. She was also an avid swimmer and treasured spending time at the beach, especially at her beloved Monmouth Beach Bath and Tennis Club (MBBTC). For all of her hobbies and close friendships, her greatest joy was family. She often cooked for large family holiday gatherings at her home. The backyard of her home at 100 Bingham hosted many barbecues, football games, and family celebrations.”

Trish lived in Rumson for 46 years, where she and her 43-year husband raised their family, before spending her final years in Red Bank.

Trish was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School and Marymount University in Washington, D.C.

She is predeceased by: her parents, Jane and John Keaveney; and her husband, John Sullivan. 

Trish is survived by: her four children and their spouses, John Sullivan and Kim Tuby, Erin Sullivan, Michael and Alyson Sullivan, and Kevin Sullivan and Nicole Walker; her sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Robert Herson; and her six grandsons, Ryan, Shane, Andy, Brian, Jason, and Thomas Sullivan. 

A life celebration will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, NJ on Monday Jan. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m.. The funeral service is Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10:15 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Rumson. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions many be made in Ms. Sullivan’s name to the Garden Club of Fair Haven [Lee Davidson 11, First Street, Fair Haven, NJ 07704].
