The year was 1988. It was a decade past graduation, yet, The Hustle was still happening. So was Saturday Night Fever. And three besties had the fever getting set to dance to the tune of the RFH Class of ’78’s first reunion — the 10th in 1988.
These three childhood friends are still friends today — Ginger White, Jeanne Murphy and Peggy Miller. Fair Haven-raised, too — all three. And back in the summer of ’88, they posed for that Instamatic camera, likely held by one of the moms, for that classic line- ’em-up-and-shoot pose before heading to Molly Pitcher Inn to reunite the night away — and more. Ahem.
But we (all five of me) digress …
That was 35 years ago, 10 less than the vinyl record you never play anymore and RFHers now have likely never spun. Ouch. Three decades and five years ago. That’s enough to spin one into an aging tizzy, never mind the tunes on the ol’ turntable.
The time, not saved in a bottle, has passed. That reunion dance is done. And while classmates from the RFH Class of ’78 and that first reunion have gone their ways, they’re coming back … to another crime of good times scene. The class is set for a rousing time right back at RFH Senior Dinner Dance scene of the, ahem, crime. We’ll leave the party pictures at that scene 45 years ago for another day.
These three, dressed in their ’70s disco hippie preppie something-or-other best, will be back with many others in that class of classy good time geezers dancing the night away on Aug. 26. That’s enough to picture for now.
Get the picture, though? Like the Bob Seger song of the ’70s, they’re “still the same … no one’s standing in their way … some things never change.” No, they haven’t. The connections have remained. The party has never stopped. Class of ’78 party people, we’ll see you at the reunion.

Girls, keep aiming high!
