Former Longtime Little Silver resident Steve Ross McLean, more recently of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on March 4. He was 76.

Born in Long Branch to Harry and Leah (Coudrier) McLean, Steve was raised in Shrewsbury and Red Bank. He attended Shrewsbury Grammar School, Saint James Grammar School and Red Bank High School.
He started his career at Wall Lincoln Mercury and then moved on to Rittenhouse Lincoln Mercury as a parts and sales manager.

“Steve married his high school sweetheart Carol Lynn Satter in 1970 and they started their life together in Little Silver. They retired in 1998 and moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Steve was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, third degree, Long Branch. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and loved going to the Daytona 500. He was a master gardener and loved preparing delicious meals for family and friends at their home in Little Silver and New Smyrna Beach. His memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.”

Steven is predeceased by: his devoted wife, Carol; his parents, Harry and Leah; and his brothers, Harold, Barry, and Paul.
He is survived by: his brothers, George McLean, of Lakewood, James McLean and sister-in-law Marie, of Fort Collins, CO; his sister, Caryl Lynn, and brother-in-law Brian New Sr., of Red Bank; sister-in-law, Lisa McLean, of Lakewood; his nephews, Craig, Kristoffer, Michael and Mark McLean, Brian New Jr., and Sean and Kevin New; nieces, Courtney MacKenzie and Megan McLean; and many loving great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, from noon to 3 p.m. with a funeral service on Monday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating in Steve’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
