‘Tis the season for an appropriate reprise …

Yes, it’s been a stellar RFH football season. And while the games aren’t always home, those bleachers at Borden Stadium have always been and are still quite sacred — for cheering on the teams and just plain hangin’ out, game or not.

In the spirit of all things sporty and sportsmanlike, everyone knows that RFHers are pretty serious about their good bleacher times.

An R-FH Area Veterans’ Homage

« of 2 »

Our annual Veterans Day tribute (Click on the right corner icon to enlarge and the arrow of the above slideshow. WAIT for it to upload and play. Click one of the photos in the above gallery to enlarge and scroll.)

Their faces are the faces at the core of a close-knit community. Some have passed. Some are still with us. They are cherished. They are veterans.

They were and are neighbors, dads, and just plain friendly faces around the Rumson-Fair Haven area towns.

They served. They fought for freedom.

They lived and still do live their lives with hometown pride, honor and respect. They were, they are founding fathers, friends. They were, they are cornerstones of the sense of community that is the Rumson-Fair Haven area.

The gift of their legacies bears no upscale real estate market value. They passed along a love of country and community that is priceless.

Thank you, on Veterans Day, to the veterans of the area who have passed and those who are still with us. You are cherished, honored.

Take a look at some of their faces and remember the legacy they carry.

Retro RFH Tower Player Techies

The stage is getting set for the RFH Tower Players’ fall production of Nutcracker; and, there’s a need for some techie help in set construction.

Yes, it’s a tough job, and those who have to do it love to do it. The need is just greater than past years for some tech crew help.

So, we’re taking you back … to the days of a rather opulent set and a diligent crew setting it.

Retro RFH Presidential Spirit of ’76

Well, with the 2024 presidential election kicking off the week, it seemed only appropriate to continue in that theme with retro RFH photos — class presidents, their teams and even the top administrator.

Why not? If the day fits … And, lest we forget that back in the 1970s, there was a bicentennial for the U.S.A. going on. And there was much making of the year in the theme of RFH festivities and the yearbook.

The RFH Class of ’76, in fact, reprised its own ode to our first president, George Washington, with a mock crossing of, shall we say, McCarter Pond?

A reprise of an RFH classic from 2016, just because it’s that time again …

Election Day is drawing near.

Political season has been in full swing in more ways than one — punches are being thrown in all directions.

It’s why they call it silly season. But, let’s take the focus off national and local politics of today and step back in time to the 1970s and politics as it was with RFH students and teachers.

Retro Halloween Schooling & Parading

Halloween parading in Sickles School in Fair Haven in the 1980s

So, a karate kid, a baseball player, a cop, two witches, a vampire and a boxer walk onto a school stage …

That means only one thing. It’s Halloween and it’s school pageant time — or whatever they call it. Yes, it’s that time when all the little guys and ghouls in school get dressed up and parade through the classroom, down the hall and into the auditorium for a spooky show of Halloween spirit.

Retro RFH Preppie Hippie Halloweening

There’s nothing like playing dress-up and drive-by for Halloween at RFH.

In the 1970s, students really got ghostly and festive with it all. Costumes were creative. Though, given the era, it was hard to tell if a few were actually costumes or just the outfit of the day. Ah, but, of course these girls were “disguised” as those ’60s, not ’70s, hippies.

A most necessary reprise …

They were headed every witch way on this Halloween in the late 1970s.

That would be Sue Brower and Bonnie Werner of the RFH Class of ’78.

So the double-dose Retro Pic(s) of the (George) Day feature them at their Halloween best.
