Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement activity remains status quo this week, with work scheduled from the usual 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, through Friday, noting channel closure changes for boaters traveling the Shrewsbury River, according to Monmouth County Officials.
Waterway travelers are reminded that …
- The navigational channel under the bridge opened at full width, or 75 feet, with no restrictions after 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. It will remain open at full width until 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21.
- From 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, the channel is scheduled to be completely closed with no marine travel allowed and no bridge openings.
- After 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, the channel is anticipated to be open at half width, or 37.5 feet, through Friday, Dec. 13.
- Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and production factors.
- The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel and has granted permission for full and partial closures the Contractor needs to install the two new bridge spans.
- Please see the Public Notice Update — Oct. 10 for the list of anticipated full and partial closure dates through the spring of 2025. Monmouth County must comply with the dates approved by the USCG.
Roadway and sidewalk travelers are reminded that …
- They should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
- Temporary delays are possible on any contractor workday due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.
- Access to Old Rumson Road from Rumson Road was reconfigured in June. See the June 7 Recent News post for more information.
- The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.
