It’s a set-up! When it comes to winning shots, RFH Girls Basketball has always had the right moves on and off the court. Call it a set-up for the jam. It’s something like that in this Retro Pic of the Day.

Recently, on Feb. 21, the team had slam dunk of a win in the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament, Central Jersey Group 2 championship game against Point Pleasant. The girls had a wallop of a win with a score of 54 to Point Pleasant Borough’s 26.
So, we’re celebrating RFH Girls Basketball with a look back to 1974 with some girl pioneers on the court setting up just the right shot.
Remember them? One is Nancy Whelchel, who was not only quite the athlete, but also the first girl to play the field with the boys on the RFH Baseball team. Yes, folks, just more than four decades ago, girls weren’t playing some sports. In this photo, Nancy is the girl on the left, a freshman at the time.
While the pic gives a peek into a game moment, it also speaks to things “looking up” for the girls in the sports arena.
So, here’s to the RFH girls of today’s basketball and yesterday’s champs and trail blazers.
Eye on the prized hoop and slam dunk!
Congratulations and best of luck to this year’s team!
