Some moments are meant for just lounging … like the persistent foul fall weather of the past few days. There was a place for that for juniors at RFH back in the day.
Oh, the place for seniors was far more mod and deluxe, 70s sunken floor, bean bag chairs and all. But, the juniors did have a little place in which to feel special about being older and more special in their efforts to wreak havoc. Mind you, this spot was pretty plain, except for a little painting on the walls designating it the Junior Lounge. There were vending machines, tables and plastic chairs — and juniors … and spitballs … and mischief galore.
The more foul the weather, the more pranking of underclassmen and one another. Though, you could say that the RFH juniors were kept in their place — right at the entrance to the cafeteria.
So, the Retro Pic of the (George) Day honors the old RFH Junior Lounge in all its cinderblock-walled, cafeteria chair-and-table splendor. This look back features some of those clowns who made times there so special — and honed their prankster skills on a “free” or two.
So, here they are … a few juniors of the RFH Class of ’79, lounging on a free and far less comfortable chairs. They didn’t seem to mind. They had bigger plans to hatch and junk food to eat.
Recognize these junior class clowns? What’s for lunch? What were they up to? Spit balls? Straw paper worm? Food fight? What did you use in your best food fight?
Many thanks, again, to the fabulous George Day for this great pic of the past!
