New Rumson Sea Bright Bridge Open with Roadway and Sidewalk Travel Advisory in Effect

While the new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge is fully open to motorists and pedestrians, some finishing touch work on and around the bridge continues.

So, Monmouth County officials advise this week that the contractor is scheduled to continue construction phase work 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Friday, weather permitting. Construction vehicles will continue to enter and exit the work areas on Rumson Road in Rumson and on Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.

Roadway and Sidewalk Information

  • The sidewalk on the north side of the bridge is closed.
  • Delays are possible due to construction activities.
  • Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of new traffic patterns associated with use of the new bridge.

Waterway Information

  • Normal bridge operations are expected.
  • The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel. USCG may grant permission for partial closures of the channel and/or for temporary deviation from normal drawbridge operations. Monmouth County must comply with instructions from USCG.
