Longtime Rumson resident and volunteer Jacqueline Pierson Nettles passed away on Jan. 20, after an extensive battle with dementia.
While her service was private, donations, according to her obituary, donations may be made in memory of Jacqueline Pierson Nettles to St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church, Rumson, or The Monmouth County SPCA.
Born in Southampton, New York, she lived most of her adult life in Rumson, where she and her husband George raised four children.
Jacquie served on a number of non-profit boards, including the Rumson Garden Club and Rumson Country Day School. She was an award-winning real estate agent, having worked in the industry for more than 30 years.
Jacquie’s was known for her compassion, kindness and humor, her obituary said. “She constantly gave of herself, putting many before her own needs,” it added. “As a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed.”
Jacquie was predeceased by her husband and one daughter, Patricia Damon Nettles.
She is survived by: her daughter Christy Nettles Elwell and her husband, David K. Elwell, of Vero Beach, FL. and Newport, RI, their sons, Scott P. Elwell and his two daughters, Eliza and Christy, and David K. Elwell lll his wife, Aliza and their daughter Hannah, and son Briggs S. Elwell and his wife Sasha; her daughter, Pamela Nettles Boyd and her husband, William B. Boyd, of Atlantic Highlands, owners of Boxwood Gardens Florist, their daughters Kendra P. Castellano and husband Michael and their two sons Leo and Michael and Christy M. Boyd; her son, George Fuhrman (Jeff) Nettles Jr. and his wife Diane, of Egg Harbor Township, and their son Douglas F. Nettles.
