In Memoriam: RFH ’96 Grad, Jimmy Nick IV, 47

A man of many words, with a passion for many things, but most of all, the nicest guy you ever had the pleasure to know. ~ family of Jimmy Nick IV

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Class of 1996 graduate, James F. Nick IV, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 9, from an apparent heart attack. He was 47.

“NYC was Jimmy’s favorite place to live. He frequently boasted that he learned to bike ride and skateboard on the sidewalks of the city.  Growing up, Jimmy rode dirt bikes with his buddies, skied the slopes of Vermont and was endlessly enthusiastic about everything and anything he did.

An RFH ’96 graduate, he attended college in Vermont. “He had such a passion for snowboarding, that he played a pivotal role in bringing snowboards to the Killington ski shop, and ultimately opening and managing the mountain’s first snowboard shop.

“He worked for over 20 years in the steel construction company founded by his maternal great-great grandfather, Karl Koch.  Jimmy wore his red hard hat with pride as he represented the fifth generation of the Koch family when he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and uncles.

“Jimmy, we will miss you forever.”

Loved ones of Jimmy Nick IV in his obituary

Jimmy was born early and in a hurry on Aug. 6, 1977 in Glen Cove, NY and was welcomed with such joy by his parents Julia (Daly) and James Nick III.

He had the honor of being the first cherished grandchild of John and Roberta Daly and fantastic cousin to Brian, Casey, Timmy, Melanie and Jean Claude, and his best buddy —  like a little brother — Nicholas.

He truly was the first and favorite nephew of Robin, Jack, Terry, Patty, Erin and Greg, bringing so much laughter and  joy to the family.  Jimmy was loved and admired by all the Daly and Koch relatives.

Jimmy was extremely proud of being named after his father, James F. Nick III, and grandfather, James F. Nick, Jr. He was the second in line of James and Gail Nick’s 14 grandchildren: Jason, Sara, Brendan, Michelle, Margaret, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Megan, Annie, Christine, Eileen, Stephen and Amanda, and he easily befriended his Aunts Christine, Patricia, Deborah and Uncle Steve. Jimmy always looked forward to spending time with his dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins on Sea Island, GA.

A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of God Church. Interment will be private.

One of Jimmy’s favorite charities was the  Make A Wish Foundation. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in his name here .
