Friday Memorial Mass Set for Longtime Fair Havenite Alice Flanagan

Longtime Fair Haven resident Alice V. Flanagan (nee Feign) passed away peacefully on March 1. She was 90.

The daughter of Michael and Catherine Feighan, who emigrated from Ireland, Alice was born and raised in Kearny and was a resident of Fair Haven for 45 years.

Alice attended St. Stephens primary school in Kearny and graduated from Kearny High School in 1943. She worked 25 years for the Social Security Administration in Neptune before retiring in 2002.

Alice was married to her beloved husband and life-long friend, Arthur J. Flanagan, Sr. in St. Stephen Church in 1948.

Alice is predeceased by: her parents; her brother Peter who was killed in action in World War II;  her sister Catherine; and her grandson.

She is survived by: her husband Arthur Sr.; her four children, Arthur J. Jr., of Red Bank, Dr. Michael J. and wife Palmina, of Woodbury, CT, daughter Jeryl Mara, of Keansburg, and Timothy J., of Red Bank; grandchildren, Sean Patrick Burney, Jr., Elizabeth Anne, Michael J. Jr., and Catherine Allysa Flanagan.

Visitation will be private. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 121 Bridge Ave., Red Bank.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. Anthony of Padua RC Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
