Simple Summer: Fishin’ for Some Crabby Dock Time

What a catch! It doesn’t get more simple or summery than crabbing and fishing on the Fair Haven Dock. It’s a time-honored tradition.

New restrictions? Not a 10-gallon cooler in sight. No mattresses. No fires. Nothing but a few fishermen and their bait, poles, traps and some good simple summer times down by the river. It’s how it’s always been on the dock on any given simple summer day to remember.

Reprise … in honor of the best of National Night Out times …

Every year there’s a Fair Haven National Night Out.

It’s a night, celebrated on the national level, designed to familiarize residents, from kids to seniors, with police and other emergency responders in town. That Night Out is always the first Tuesday in August. So, Tuesday it is in Fair Haven. There are plenty of Night Out memories to recall, but this featured one is a classic from 13 years ago.

There are games, demonstrations, looks at emergency equipment, food, smiles and handshakes — and a dunk tank.

Focus: Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Open; Roadway, Traffic Pattern Alerts

The new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge is fully open to both motorists and pedestrians. Monmouth County officials advise, though, that there are still some final roadway and sidewalk work being done as well as new traffic patterns.
