The skies have been quite ominous and it’s code red for the air quality alert in the Rumson-Fair Haven area, as the smoke from the Canada wildfires continues to permeate.
The code red status will continue until Friday when it turns into a code orange “action day,” according to the National Weather Service. That alert will stay in effect until midnight on Friday with a forecast of haze and chance of thunderstorms.
The air quality code advisory means that the air may “approach or exceed unhealthy standards.” Unhealthy standards means that those with compromised immune systems, asthmatics, the elderly and people with other lung and heart ailments. The alerts are expected to go away as the sun shines in clear skies on Saturday.
