In Memoriam: Former Longtime Rumsonite & Fair Havenite, Dolly Rose, 84

Longtime former Rumson and Fair Haven resident, Dolly T. Rose, more recently of Red Bank, passed away Monday, June 5, with her family by her side at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was 84.

Dolly was born in Antofagasta, Chile to her parents Hernando Tamallanca and Santos Barrera.

She “directed the yearly Follies talent show for children at the Monmouth Beach Bath & Tennis Club. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed paddle tennis as well. Dolly also attended daily prayer groups. Dolly was a devout Catholic and loved her faith. She was very active with the surrounding parishes especially the Church of the Nativity. Dolly was a Carmelite and helped to organize many religious pilgrimages to international Holy sites. On these trips she led many people to international religious locations including to the Holy Land, Lourdes, and other important religious locations.”

Dolly is predeceased by: her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert; her parents; and her son, Paul.

She is survived by: her son, Andrew, of Lincroft; her daughter, Honora Rose (Wendy Williamson), of Rumson; her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Meghan, John Henry, Eleanor; and many adoring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home,Red Bank. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd., Fair Haven, Friday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m.. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rheumatology Research Foundation.
