Prosecutor: 33-Year-Old Arrested, Charged with Carjacking, Auto Theft & More

The man who was shot by police in Holmdel yesterday, in an incident that caused Route 35 corridor traffic jams, has been arrested and charged with carjacking, car theft, a weapons charge and related offenses, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Thursday.

Prosecutor: Area Man Convicted in Family Friend’s 2019 Murder

A Monmouth County Jury has returned guilty verdicts on nearly all charges against the area man who in 2019 was charged with murdering a longtime family friend and setting her home on fire in an attempt to cover his tracks, Acting Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Michael J. Wojciechowski announced on Wednesday.

Thirty-two-year-old Omar Rivera-Rojas (also known as Juan Carlos Rivera-Rojas), and his 20-year-old nephew, Alberto Rojas-Hernandez, both of Lakewood, pleaded guilty on Friday to first-degree aggravated manslaughter charges stemming from a 2019 Howell slaying, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced.
