It’s not just another fish story.
There’s plenty of proof that once upon a time, like Saturday, a fishy trio made up of 91-year-old longtime Fair Havenite Rudy Kastner, his daughter, 1984 RFH grad, Lori Kastner Slocum and her Rumson-raised husband Chris, a 1986 RFH grad, went on a little fishing expedition in the Navesink River.
No floundering here. This serious fishing trio hooked up with some great catches for dinner, aside from the company. They ended up reeling in some mighty big fish — of 2-, 3- and 4 1/2-pound flounder. That’s 10 1/2 pounds of flounder.
There’s something very fishy, indeed, about this trio and their something-hour tour of the Navesink. They counted their fish after they were caught and cooked up some fresh dinner.
“Soon they will be in this form (pictured below),” Lori told R-FH Retro. And, let’s let Lori say it again … “My dad there is 91!”
There’s no catch. Truth, summer, family and simple times on the Navesink are all it takes for a perfect simple summer day in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
Cheers to the greatest catch of all — Rumson and Fair Haven family ties, times, the river and a few good fish!
