Longtime Red Bank resident, Jack Holian, passed away on July 27. He was 76.
A retired educator from the Asbury Park School District, he was an avid ice boater and an active member of the North Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club. Jack was a past commodore and the current financial secretary, a post he held for more than 20 years.
He was also president of the Rocket Ice Yacht Foundation.

“Jack was a driving member to rebuild the Rocket, a class one ice yacht (one of two on the East Coast). John (Jack) was able to see the fruits of his enthusiasm and labor to the Rocket’s completion. Seeing the Rocket sail on the Hudson River, Orango Lake and on Red Bank’s Navesink River.”

Jack is survived by his brothers, James, of South Carolina, and Edward, of Red Bank.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
