Simple Summer: Father-Daughter Fish Tales

No, this is not just another fish story. It’s more like a biggest catch boo hoo. It’s all about a father-daughter dance around a couple of fish. Call it, instead, a tale of two fish … and Fair Havenites.

No floundering around. This father-daughter duo is always up to something very fishy. And the other day was no exception. It’s pretty simple for these two. Someone always ends up with the biggest catch — and plenty of food for family thought.

Yes, there’s always something very fishy going on when these two bait a little father-daughter quality time cruising and casting lines on the Navesink River. Many know longtime Fair Havenite Rudy Kastner, a 93 years young fisherman. And many know his daughter, Lori, too, a 1984 RFH grad.

The Kastner team has gone fishing for something to brag about once again. But, this time, the one reeling in the big catch was Lori, leaving dad Rudy a little sore about the loss, but, as usual, happy to have baited the best of fishing expedition times with his best girl.

There’s no catch to this simple fish tale. No fish story involved. It’s a short tale of truth about a couple of fish feeding family ties, and the simple best of summer times on the Navesink.

No doubt these two will keep reeling it all in. We hear they get a little crabby sometimes, too.

Enjoy, Rudy and Lori!

Cheers to the greatest catch of all — Rumson and Fair Haven family ties, times, the river and a few good fish!
