Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Holiday Travel Advisory

There’s no troll at the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge, just a Spiderman Santa overseeing the replacement activity. And this New Year week, construction activity remains at a status quo, with work hours from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Friday and no activity on Wednesday, New Year’s Day.

Monmouth County officials advise …

Roadway and sidewalk travelers to maintain an awareness that:

  • Construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
  • Temporary delays are possible on any contractor workday due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.
  • The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.

Waterway travelers that:

  • The eastern half of the navigational channel is available for marine travel.
  • The horizontal clearance for the eastern side has been reduced to 35 feet at the roadway level. The anticipated end date of the reduced restriction is Jan. 24, weather permitting.
  • Below the roadway level, the horizontal clearance on the eastern side of the channel remains at 37.5 feet.
  • The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel and has granted permission for full and partial closures the contractor needs to install the two new bridge spans.
  • Please see the latest Public Notice Update for the list of anticipated full and partial closure dates through the spring of 2025. Monmouth County must comply with the dates approved by the USCG.
  • Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and production factors.
