In light of another vehicle theft in Rumson, police are, once again, urging residents to be diligent in taking precautions to dissuade thieves as much as possible. Lock vehicles, homes and secure fobs, they have reiterated.

“Rumson residents are strongly encouraged to secure their homes and vehicles, activate alarm systems, and promptly contact the police at 732-842-0500 or 911 if you observe any suspicious activity,” a statement released by Rumson Police Chief Jeffrey Nixon said. “While this concern extends beyond our community, it remains our top priority to eliminate it. We urge you to stay vigilant and support our efforts by reporting any unusual activities.”
The most recent vehicle theft occurred on Oct. 13, the statement said, adding that “individuals associated with the ongoing problem of stolen vehicles in our area made an attempt to gain entry into a residence located on Ridge Rd and Dogwood Lane. These individuals were tracked in the vicinity of Somerset Lane.”
No residences were “successfully” broken into during the vehicle theft activity, Nixon added.
“The Rumson Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing and resolving this issue,” Nixon concluded.
