It’s that time of the year when the spirits of Halloween start haunting.
To add a little thrill to the chiller decor throughout neighborhoods in the Rumson-Fair Haven area, this weekend marks the kick-off of seasonal festivities with the tradition of the Fair Haven Halloween Parade and the newest quickest event of the season, the Halloween Egg Hunt. Yes, you read that correctly.
It all starts on Sunday with the egg hunt at Sportsman’s Field, across the street from Knollwood School, at 10:30 a.m. Call it a pre-parade event.
Yes, officials do call it the quickest event, as it involves letting kids loose to fetch a plethora of eggs/treats, no tricks. They scramble, fetch and retreat …
Then all line up in the Knollwood School parking lot for the parade.
The parade is a longstanding tradition. All guys, ghouls, officials, schools organizations, fire trucks and more parade down Hance Road starting at 11 a.m. They continue to River Road and end up at the Fair Haven Firehouse for treats, prizes and socializing.
Next weekend? Rumson!
