Despite a forecast that predicts a 40 percent chance of rain, Memorial Day services and parades have been set for Monday.
They were rained out last year, but this year the hope is that there won’t be another year’s lapse in community remembrance and the rain will go away.
So, it all starts with …
• Fair Haven’s parade at 9 a.m. As usual, it starts at Knollwood School, with the route proceeding down Hance Road and onto River. There will be a brief stop and ceremony at the Fair Haven Firehouse en route to the final destination, Memorial Park, at the corner of River and Fair Haven roads. There, the ceremony, with a featured speaker, music from the elementary school students.
• And at 11 a.m., the parade in Rumson starts at Forrestdale School. It proceeds down River Road and ends at Victory Park where a ceremony will take place at about 11:30, featuring a veteran speaker.
• Also at 11 a.m. there is a service in Sea Bright at the Sea Bright United Methodist Church.
