Prosecutor: One Dead, Two Injured in Three Car Collision Under Investigation

The cause of a three-car collision that resulted in the death of one driver and multiple injuries in the other two is being investigated, Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Wednesday.

On Monday, Dec. 9, at 10:27 p.m., Freehold police responded to Jackson Mills Road in the vicinity of Geisler Road on a report of a three-car collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 20-year-old male driver was traveling north on Jackson Mills Road in a 2017 Infiniti Q50, when the vehicle collided with a 2017 Ford Transit van, operated by a 40-year-old male.

As the collision occurred, a 2017 Subaru Legacy, driven by a 21-year-old male, was also traveling southbound on Jackson Mills Road behind the van. The driver sideswiped the passenger side of the van, coming to a stop off to the right-hand side of the road.

As a result of the initial crash, the 20-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and died on Tuesday at 6:22 a.m. on Tuesday. The two other drivers were both transported to a separate hospital with moderate injuries.

No charges or summonses have been issued with regard to the incident at this time.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Freehold Township Police Department remains active and ongoing.
