Prosecutor: 21-Year-Old Area Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Monday Shooting

A 21-year-old area man has been charged with attempted murder and related weapons offenses in connection with a Monday shooting, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Tuesday.

Jaiden V. Edwards, 21, of Keansburg, was charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from the Neptune Township shooting.

The case background …

On Monday, June 22, at 5:43 p.m., Neptune Township police responded to a report of a shooting incident in the vicinity of the Asbury Park Circle and Route 35 South. Shortly thereafter, a female victim arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Neptune Township Police Department, assisted by members of the MCPO Gang Unit, determined Edwards to be the person allegedly responsible for the shooting.
